- 1610 October, the Drebbel family arrives at the court of Emperor Rudolph II in Prague. Drebbel demonstrates the Perpetuum Mobile, –probably- does chemical experiments and is involved in mining projects.
- 1611 Rudolph II was stripped of all effective power by his younger brother Archduke Matthias, Drebbel was imprisoned for about a year.
- 1612 Emperor Rudolph II, Drebbel’s sponsor in Prague, dies on January 20th. November 6, 1612 Crown Prince Henry Frederick Stuart, ‘the Renaissance prince’, Drebbel’s’ major sponsor in England, suddenly passes away from typhoid fever, 18 years old.
- 1613 February; Drebbel was released and travelled back from Prague to London. Has no income, no patron: In a letter to King James I-VI he proposes to develop diverse interesting apparatus and instruments. Offers to optimize the exploitation of a silver mine and asks for permission to organize a lottery.
